"I AM NOT ANGRY!"
The Basics
Full Name: Hunter Lee Woods
Nickname/Alias: N/A
Species: Whitetail Deer
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Occupation: Police Officer
District: City Center
Appearance
Hunter looks about the same as any other buck. His fur ranges from a dusty brown to a more reddish brown, depending on the season. His nose his black with a stipe of white around it. There’s also white on his chin and just beneath his jaw. His belly flashes bright white as well as the underside of his teardrop shaped tail. Hunter also boasts a rack of eight point antlers on his head that shed annually. Thanks to two dark marks above each eye, he looks incredibly angry all the time, whether he is or not. Hunter is on the large side for a whitetail deer, tipping the scales at 175 lbs. He’s on the more muscular side as well, something earned from his physical training as a police officer as well as his time dancing with his sister. He likes to keep himself in good shape. Hunter tends to give off an intimidating presence. He’s not trying to, really. But thanks to his perpetual angry face and his natural intensity, other mammals have been known to cross the street when he walks down the sidewalk. He does try to downplay it when he’s off duty. Hunter tends to wear light colored clothing and lots of casual t-shirts. He tries to smile more as well but it doesn’t really work. When he’s on duty though, he’s in full uniform, down to the tie clip. He tends to use his intimidating demeanor to his advantage as well.
Personality
Personality Description: To say that Hunter is passionate would be an... accurate description. Unlike his sister who is calm and collected, Hunter puts his emotions out there for everyone to see. They’re quick to change too. He can go from happy and laughing to completely furious faster than you can blink. He isn't very good at toning down his emotions either, which can make him a little difficult to be around sometimes.
He's very aware of how he comes across too. He knows that no matter what he does, he's always going to look angry. It bothers him. He's not a bad guy, he's not even scary once you get to know him. So when he sees another animal acting scared of him or avoiding him, he can get pretty upset.
Overall, Hunter is a very sensitive animal, which isn't what people expect from someone like him. He's incredibly kind to others, and is a sucker for a sob story. It's not uncommon to see him tearing up at a wedding, at sad parts in movies, when hearing what's happened to some of the victims that come into the police station. He isn't nearly as tough as he seems or sometimes comes across.
Strengths:
- Protective: First and foremost, Hunter is very protective. This probably comes from the fact that his parents always told him to protect his sister. Regardless of where it came from, Hunter keeps a close eye on anyone he cares about and can't help but get involved if he sees any kind of injustice going on.
- Kind: Hunter is also very kind. He loves helping people in any way he can. If he can make someone else smile, that just makes his whole day. And, when he's not scaring them, he's actually pretty good with children too.
- Determined: Like his sister, Hunter is very active in achieving his goals. When he wants something, he will make it happen, and he will make it happen now.
- Loyal: Hunter is a very loyal person. When he finds someone he likes, he sticks with them as long as he possibly can. Since he didn't have many friends growing up, the ones he does have he keeps very close. He'll do just about anything to keep those people happy.
- Innovative: One of his best attributes as a police officer is how he looks at things. He tends to look at things differently than the average bird and this leads to some rather strange ideas from him. Sometimes, they might sound strange or ridiculous, but he is very good at shining a new light on stubborn cases.
Weaknesses
- Over-Emotional: As one might expect from emotional people, Hunter can sometimes be over emotional. His heart goes out to anyone with a sob story and it's easy for him to get into a fury when he hears what's happened to some of the victims that come into the station. It can be hard to keep himself from flying off the handle bars sometimes, though he does try. He's also a sympathetic cryer, a fact he hates and tries to keep hidden from his fellow officers.
- Innocent: For an officer, Hunter has a very childlike look on life. He's not an idiot but he doesn't always realize that others can have an ulterior motive either. Things are very one way or the other with him. He can have trouble seeing the grey area, much less understanding it.
- Distracted: Hunter can be a bit ADD at times. While he can easily spend hours working on something without realizing that time has passed, it can be hard for him to get to that point. Loud noises, things out of place, little things that other people do such as clicking a pen or shaking their leg can make it very hard for him to focus.
- Clingy: Hunter can easily come across as clingy. He's protective of those he cares about but is also a very high maintenance animal. He likes getting attention from those he cares about and can come across as over protective as well. He just wants his friends to be safe but doesn't always see that there's a line he needs to respect.

History
History: Ever since she was little, Daisy was the golden child. And it was Hunter's job to protect her. Since the moment his little sister was born, his parents told him that he was going to have to keep her safe. Of course, since he was only two at the time, he didn't fully understand what they meant. By the time he was old enough, he had already been doing it and his parents had been telling him to watch out for her for so long, he didn't know what else he could do. When someone tried to bully his sister, he would come and fix the problem before it even got started. Hunter protected his sister from everything. It was his job.
But while he was busy protecting his sister, he forgot about his own life. Other animals avoided him. Between his agitated appearance and his aggressive attitude against anyone he thought might be a threat, he didn't have many friends. In fact, just the opposite was happening. He was beginning to attract bullies himself. They teased him and called him names, making fun or the way he looked and how he hovered over his sister as often as he could. There were plenty days when he came home after a fight. He would always say how the other guy looked worse than he did. This did not make his parents happy.
When his sister entered ballet, that became another thing to watch out for. Of course, they were just ballerinas. Little girls trying to be graceful and pretty. So sitting outside with his parents during those classes became a good break. He could just sit there and enjoy the things he wanted to. Race car soap operas and plenty of time to color. It was nice. A few years later when her sister joined a ballroom dance class along with her ballet classes, he went with her to be her partner. In the beginning, he didn't think he would like it. Dancing was girly and dumb after all. But the more he learned, the more he enjoyed it. He could understand why his sister liked dancing so much. There was something freeing about it. And to be honest, it had been a while since he felt that free.
As he grew older, he and his sister just grew closer. But he stopped protecting just her and began standing up for anyone who was picked on. He became a sort of guardian to the sheep and rabbits of the school. It didn't matter who their bully was. It could be a predator or prey animal. It could even be an elephant, he didn't care. He wasn't going to stand for someone getting picked on. Not since he'd been picked on himself. It wasn't fun. And since he was already big for a deer, his confidence in his ability to protect them just grew and grew.
When Daisy's grades started dropping, things were a mess. He started getting into fights with his parents. What was going on with her? Why wasn't he stopping it? It was his job to protect his sister, why wasn't he doing it? Every time they talked, they made it sound like everything was his fault. He hated them. He doubted they actually cared about him and he was starting to wonder if they cared about Daisy beyond her being their perfect little freak show. He never told Daisy this. Instead he just did his best to calm himself down and went to go tutor her. She didn't know about all that stuff and in his mind she didn't need to.
When he turned 18, he left. He escaped to college a good two hours away from home. He could still visit Daisy on the weekends but he knew his parents would never bother that much with him. For once, it was all about him. With the exception of a few calls a week with his sister, he didn't have to worry about her at all. She was old enough and strong enough to take care of herself. He could just focus on himself. And the first year, he may have taken it too far. While studying to get his general studies out of the way, he spent his free time partying instead of focusing like he should have. By the end of the semester he was on academic probation. His parents gave him more than an earful when he came back for winter break. He didn't care about them but the disappointed look Daisy gave him when she found out was enough to get him back on the right track.
It was during his second semester that he decided to be a cop. The law had always fascinated him and if he ever heard the sound of a cop car nearby when he was growing up, he'd be outside in a second looking to see what was going on. But more than that, he wanted to protect mammals. Like back in school when he kept away the bullies. He could do that again, but this time on a much bigger scale. By the time he turned 21, he had graduated with a degree in criminal law. Now came the hard part, getting a job.
Immediately he applied for a job at the Zootopia Police Department. After what seemed like an eternity, he got an answer from them. He was in. Now all he had to do was get through the Police Academy. While he was there, he poured everything into his training. His degree helped a lot during tests and since he was already athletic, getting through the obstacle course wasn't as difficult as it could be. Fortunately, his antlers were still growing in from the last shed, so he didn't have to deal with those during the time he was there. While he was there, he figured out what he was good at. He looked at things a different way. When presented with a problem, he would answer differently than what his other cadets might have. On occasion, he got laughed at for his idea. But when it proved right, that just made it all the more satisfying. He finished second in his class, just two points behind the valedictorian. He was assigned to the office that covered the Meadowlands. This was also the time that he moved in with his sister who had an apartment in City Central. It was closer to his job than his place in the Forest and he could help cover rent during Daisy's off season. After working there for 6 years, he has just been transferred to District 1, City Central.
