The Basics
Full Name: Jamison Hatchett
Nickname/Alias: Jamie, Jams
Species: Opossum
Gender: Male
Age: Just turned 18
Occupation: Unemployed at the moment.
District: Usually running the streets Downtown.
Appearance
Fur/Tail: His fur is long and bushy around his elbows, feet, and neck, but somewhat short everywhere else. His coloration is fairly standard for his species, with the main color being a medium gray, his face is splashed in white that travels all the way down his front side, and his fore and hind paws are dipped in a darker gray. His feet and hand paws are hairless and sport a fleshy pink hue, his fur always tends to be very dingy and dirty looking, making it appear to spike in every which way. He is a very bristly furred animal. His tail is long and would have been prehensile, but lost some of that ability due to an injury, it is missing the last foot or two of its length.
Clothing: His clothes usually look as if they haven't been washed in ages, though he does try and keep them somewhat clean. Most of his outfits sport a large amount of holes and tears. He doesn't have many pairs of clothing to his name, so one can usually find him in a way-too-large black tank top, tatty camo pants, and a long trench coat missing one of the sleeves. He is also almost never seen without his black rounded shades and beanie, all in all giving him a very mismatched, cobbled together appearance.
Overview: He is a bit unusual in his height when compared to others of his species, having a full head over some of the adult males even, but his body clearly shows a lot of neglect as he tends to always look a bit underfed. He has a majorly hunched posture that tends to make him look smaller than he is until you tell him to stand up straight. His mouth is lined with sharp teeth that have clearly seen better days, and his eyes are a pale yellow color. He tends to carry himself and move in a furtive, twitchy sort of way, it gives off the impression that he's a bit unstable despite this not being the case. His tail tip never stops twitching. He speaks in what would be the equivalent of an Australian accent(though for this setting it wouldn't BE an Aussie accent, but it sounds like one).
Personality
Personality Description: First impressions can oftentimes be deceiving, and that holds true for young Jamie especially. Most animals tend to peg him as a criminal, a dirty, distrustful skumbag. And while it's true that he has had moments where he's stolen or lied, it was never without need, survival comes first on the streets after all. He is merely a victim of circumstance that fell through the cracks of the goof life that Zootopia was supposed to offer. He is a nervous but undoubtedly optimistic animal, having been forced to grow up faster than he should have, and barely etching out a living on the hard and fast streets. He wants to see the good in everyone, to be someone or do something, but he is stuck in a hamster wheel running with no idea where he is going.
He tends to be the kind of animal to hide his pain and sorrows behind smiles and jokes, and will likely hold his feelings in until he breaks, he never wants to burden anyone with the concerns on a lowlife like him, so it takes a lot of prying to get him to open up to you. Despite his attempt at an optimistic outlook, he can be a bit distrustful at times, especially towards adult figures, he wants to trust those who might be able to help him, but he tends to be very wary of their motives and their actions. It takes a lot for an animal his age to get him to open up, but for him to do so for one much older is nothing short of a miracle.
Where he lacks in social skills and trust he makes up for in a keen streetwise that has survived him this long. He knows the alleys and tunnels like the back of his paw and can usually get around or find meager scraps fairly well, thrown out fast food is still food after all, and this animal has an iron gut. He is, however, true to his nature as an Opossum, and when he is very badly startled or frightened, he'll almost without fail freeze and collapse on the ground in a macabre show of 'playing dead'. The display is more amusing than anything, especially in a society where such a defense mechanism is not needed, but it can be a major hindrance, and when he comes around he is usually pretty disoriented and confused.
All-in-all Jamison is an animal that ended up getting the short end of the stick, he has the capacity for great kindness if he could only find a way to escape his past and discover it.

Likes:
- Music: He likes loud, grungy, angry music as well as more folksy tunes. He had good vocals for singing that kind of music if he could only get someone to hear him. He also plays guitar pretty well, his instrument is probably the only consistent way he can make money, playing on street corners in hopes of someone tipping him. If he had to pick a dream job, being the guitarist of vocalist in an indie-folk band would be it.
- Horror Movies: Jamison has always been a major horror movie buff, he doesn't care how bad it is, or how lame or corny, he'll watch it and love it. He often laments not being able to ever see movies anymore, especially when a new one comes out.
- Tabloids: He could definitely be described as a 'tin foil hat' type of animal, though he never believes a word of what he reads in these publications. He finds conspiracy theories and rumors fascinating, and used to have a huge stack of tabloids he'd collected over the years. It's a guilty pleasure for sure, but one he isn't entirely afraid to admit to.
- Pastries: Though he himself can't bake to save his life, Jamison has an insatiable sweet tooth. His favorite dessert happens to be cheesecake of any kind.
Dislikes/Fears:
- Abandonment: Though he has a bad habit of pushing others away, if he does manage to get close to someone, he tends to fear above all else that they will abandon him and leave him alone again, and perhaps this is why he pushes other animals away. Whatever the case, he can become cripplingly distressed if he things he is losing someone he is close to.
- Thunder Storms: This one is a given due to his current lack of a stable shelter, he gets caught out in thunderstorms every time one rolls around, and this has given him a very primal aversion to the sound of thunder or the sight of rain. A fear he is pretty ashamed of.
- Crowds: Thoroughly used to being alone, Jamison is highly uncomfortable with even the thought of being trapped in a large crowd. He can barely handle a group of five animals, much less a room or square full. While it isn't a fear per say, it is definitely something that tends to make him very uncomfortable, and much more twitchy than usual.
History
History: Jamison is one of those children who fall through the cracks of the childcare system, it wasn't that he was a problem child per say, he simply never had the fortune of being welcomed into a loving home. Most families overlooked the somewhat unattractive child in favor of 'cuter' kids. He was sweet enough despite being a bit shy, and only every wanted to be welcomed somewhere like countless other kids he saw come and go. Of course, a child is only a child for so long, and eventually Jamison grew bitter of the place, tired of being passed over and looked at as less appealing than the other kids, he was sixteen when he stole away in the night, deciding to raise himself, and forcing adulthood upon himself far before his time.
Life on the streets has never been easy for the young animal, but as he turns eighteen and approaches two years living this way, he had begun to adapt and learn the rules of survival. He has seen and done things that no animal his age should have to, and it has shaped his curious optimism into a sarcastic realism. He wants more than anything to find where he fits, to start his story for real, but the binds of his past and the distrust in the world it has seeded have twisted the optimistic young possum into a nervous and twitching example of where the childcare system can fail you. He doesn't know how a family is supposed to operate because he never got the pleasure of experiencing it, and it is clear by the sometimes cynical outlook that he never knew a simple childhood. Sure, where he grew up he had plenty of other children, but it wasn't a family, and it wasn't a home, and the older he gets, the more his hope of ever finding one slip away.
