"Commander Pawtson and I caught him! Him and the stolen Grand Jasmine Mu flowers that were needed for the big ceremony today at the Tea Shop!"
Nick didn't even bother to hide his amusement. He literally could not have found a better way to embarrass Chief Bogo if he had dedicated years to the task; a child had provided that service in mere minutes. Already, the fox was committing every detail of her inane story to his memory: Grand Jasmine Mu flowers, tea ceremony, Howles and Pawtson. These were all going to be very important tidbits for him to remember over the next several months.
"And now.. He's trapped at every way possible. There's no way he could escape now!"
Trapped he was, and from the looks of things, Bogo was about ready to start shedding blood. Obviously, he couldn't attack a child, but there were now three officers for him to choose from--and it was no secret which one he found the most distasteful. Oh well, if Nick was going to die, he was going to die with dignity.
"What, your backup is Officer Crazy Tree here?"
Well, so much for dignity.
"Excuse me, you magical menace," Nick countered indignantly, "That's Mister Officer Crazy Tree to you." His retort was punctuated by the maple leaf that chose that moment to fall from behind his ear and drift lazily to the floor of the lobby. Glancing down at the offending piece of foliage, Mister Officer Crazy Tree quietly stuck out his foot-paw and dragged the leaf back toward him, where he promptly hid it underneath said paw.
"You have no evidence. So let me go, or I will use this...magic, on you."
Nick wanted so badly to play along. But hearing Chief Bogo threaten to use magic on them was just too much for him to handle, even knowing that in reality, 'magic' probably meant saddling the three offending officers with mountains of tedious paperwork. The fox had to clamp a paw to his snout to keep the laughter from coming out; even then, his narrow orange body shook with mirth. After a few moments, he managed to say, "I think he means it~" before securely covering his mouth once more.
